Free reverse mortgage training

What is free or not free is open to discussion.  Free reverse mortgage training is or should be an even trickier topic to debate.  A simple search on the internet for the meaning and provision of reverse mortgage training will shore up tremendous results.

Some will claim to be free. Maybe they are or maybe they are not.  It all will depend on the depth of advice that one would like to receive.  Indeed, many companies, partnerships and individuals are currently offering reverse mortgage advice, thanks to sub prime mortgages, extreme numbers of foreclosures and the near collapse of the two mortgage giants, Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac)

It is possible to spot the celebrated gurus of this industry and the list will invariably include Robert Wagner, James Garner and Pat Boone.  They have a name in reverse mortgage training.  These individuals have cut a niche for themselves and may be believed.

The administrations effort

The US government established the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1965 to ensure that the country’s housing and city development is in tango with basic social needs as well as modernity.  Its main focus has now shifted to housing, which remains its core function in addition to being a lending facilitator.

However, and as we all may now know, there is need for extensive reverse mortgage training.  HUD is the country’s top reverse mortgage counselor training provider.  There is a tremendous web of HUD supported trainers who deal with important educational issues including safety issues, home repair, homeowners insurance and most importantly, senior housing .

HUD also supports organizations which offer advice on foreclosure, defaults, renting and many credit issues. These may be of critical importance to the seniors of this country as nearly all real estate agents in the United States participate in HUD programs and are able to pass on information

The held hand

HUD also offers technical guidance as mandated by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1987, section 417, Public Law 100-242 (12 U.S.C. 1715z-20). The regulations that form the basis of this program are in 24 CFR 200 and 206.  These laws are a refuge to these who may never have received formal reverse mortgage training, basic or technical.

It is clear, from the above, that there is tremendous effort by both the public and private sectors to get the public as trained as it can be.  However, whether this training has been well received is out on the jury.
